The best backyards start with how you want to use them, not with what's on sale.

Start with

1. List what you want to do outside: eat, relax, grow food, play
2. Measure the yard and sketch it on graph paper
3. Mark doors, windows, slopes, trees and utilities
4. Sketch zones for each use
5. Plan in phases you can do one weekend at a time
