A small paver patio

Pavers can make a durable patio, but the base work matters most.

Steps

1. Call 811, then mark and dig out the area
2. Slope it slightly away from the house so water drains
3. Add and compact a gravel base in layers
4. Add a thin, level layer of sand
5. Lay pavers, cut edges, and add edge restraints
6. Sweep joint sand into the gaps
